50D – New vs. Used

I have been looking at the 50D since it seems to be a full step (considering the XT as a half step) up from the XSi I currently have. Most of the used 50Ds that have around 10,000 clicks are $750 used. Then with paypal gift and shipping it is around $800. Right now B&H has the 50D for $999 and free shipping. I am not saying that the extra $200 could not be used for other things, but if it were you would you spend the extra and get a new body?

you can get the 50d new on amazon for about $900. thats where im planning on buying mine in a few weeks. but with buying anything new or used, a lot of the time i think its better to buy new because it will have warranty and will last longer. but for lenses i think its fine to buy those used since thy really last. but with a body i'd say buy new. it isnt too much of a price difference. and like i said you get warranty. you never know exactly what you are getting when you buy used. just my opinion =]

my rule of thumb is that used has to be at least more than 25% off the nearest grey market prices.

local retail - grey market goods are about 30% lesser than those with agent's warranty. The new grey stuff has warranty by the shop, although i had (fortunately) had no experience making a grey-warranty repair in these past years of buy grey stuff.
