You can handhold it in front of the camera in Av mode and take some test shots.

This the first time after 30 years or so that when I shall be using the lens manually. I had used a Yashica 35 camera in the late 70s/early 80s.

I will begin with AV mode, as suggested.

M42 adapter arrived today and I mounted 77M-4 on my canon 550d and clicked a few images. I must say that the manual requires a lot of patience and skills but it could be fun if you get basics right. I need to learn basics. Here is the one from some 20 images I shot randomly.

Thank you. Though inside me I feel these are not good images. But I want to learn. Below is another one. I welcome your inputs and suggestions for improvements.

Here is two pics from 77M-4, straight from camera in jpg format. Am I on the right track of learning?

Recently read about the helios lens and swirly bokeh, which interested me. By chance was able to purchase a Zenit EM with Helios MK 44-2 58 f/2.

A bit hit and miss for me with focus as my eyes are ageing, but lots of fun, on a 70D.

These are pretty sharp - how are you liking this lens? I'm thinking of picking up a copy for some closeup work.
