Does the very very shallow depth of view work here? Or would it look better if the hand was in focus too? Other critique is welcome too!

you should try and blow on it, and catch 1 or 2 seeds floating off in the distance (tilt shift would work awesome if you could get the seed to go into the line of focus)

try the same shot at some narrower apertures, and see which you like the best is my best suggestion.

My eyes are drawn to the bright out of focus circles to the right of the subject. The background is as important as the subject.

I would like the hand in focus. And the bokeh in this one is distracting. But a great composition and exposure, just a little hot on the right side of the seedhead but not to the point where I think it matters. I'd try again on the hand.

I would crop that hand right out, the seed head and the bokeh are enough:D

as that shot with a 50mm 1.8. that is the loook of that lens' bokeh!
