Not sure if this belongs in this section or not but did not know where else to put it so here goes...

I am looking to either purchase or make larger letters for children to hold while being photographed. I would say...at least 1' high in size, white in color with at least a 2" depth or so. Does anyone know if these can be purchased somewhere or hand made? I was thinking foam board maybe...? I have never worked with foam board and am not sure how easy it is to cut or shape. Anyone know what I mean and can help? Thanks!

Your local sign company can make them. Get an estimate. Such letters can be spendy.

Google Photo Studio Supply. You will find several company's that have such props.

The only ones I have been able to find online are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. I saw a kit with all of the letter for $270 I think...way more than I would like to spend on this.

Try your local craft store like Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann Fabrics or Micheals, they carry letters about the size you want, here's a link to what I am talking about on the Jo-Ann's site http://www.joann.com …=cat1076&PRODID=xprd78870 (external link)

Thanks! I have all three of those stores you listed within a mile of my home. As far as the product on the link you posted goes, have you seen these in person? It states they are paper mache...are they firm and sturdy?

That's around $10/letter - if you're going to use them much (and having them on hand will suggest further possibilities), that doesn't sound like too much.

I have seen them, am thinking of getting a set of the numbers to use for the year data in some photos, they aren't as sturdy as say a solid block of rubber, but at the same time they aren't real fragile like a sheet of newsprint either, I would say they are roughly akin to a heavier cardboard box (as in they can withstand some abuse, though even if you went with foam they too will have their limits on the abuse they can take), though I could be wrong, its been about 5 months since I last looked at them .
