I haven't been here in years, ad I never went with a real camera before. I used my 50D and 70-200mm f2.8 (non-IS) with a 1.4x tc

yeah, the place is pretty amazing. More so than I remember it as a kid. haha. I am mad that I forgot my monopod though, not quite as sharp as I would like.

Great shots, I like the second one the most. Did you have to crop a lot on those or were they as close as they look? I would very much like to go there some day, any tips that might help would be greatly appreciated.

C & C is always welcomed.

They are cropped a little. I did wish I still had my 100-400mm, but I didn't crop THAT much. Next time I might just bring my 400mm f5.6 and see what I can make of that.

It was my first time trying to take pics like this, so I was happy with how they came out really.

do you think the 1.4 extender made a huge differnce or necassary? I am going there in July and taking my 7D with 70-200mm 2.8. wondering if i should invest in one before i go. Nice shots by the way.

Thanks. yeah I really think the 1.4x helped. on the 7D you might be able to get away with cropping more, but it was nice having the extra range.

You'll be fine with just a 70-200 at the Zoo, but you might want the extra range if you go to the Park, especially if you take a tour of the large exhibits.
