The person putting out the cash is the one who can answer your first question. My suggestion would be to go into a store that sells prints and compare what you see there with what you have here.

It's not a bad shot once you straighten the horizon and fix the banding in the sky. But it's not exactly memorable either. What's your point of interest? Consider bringing out the underwater details by using a polarizing filter to reduce surface reflections.

Why HDR? It looks like a standard daylight shot.

First, read the image posting rules.

Second, the consumer will buy anything if you know how to sell them on it.

Third, what is the purpose of leaving the image tiled and the HDR?

Could be more interesting. A human walking along the beach would raise the interest level by 1000%.

Whoa! New equipment will not substitute for the eye of a photographer. It didn't strike me that anybody told you to get better gear, other than a polarizing filter. My recommendation is to perfect your technique before you drop a lot of cash for new gear. Furthermore, your son did you a favor in my opinion. A UV filter does nothing for a digital sensor and only puts another layer of glass to bounce light around in front of your lens.

I'd try going back for the same shot at different times of day. See what it looks like in the rising or setting sun.
