[QUOTE=max_alvelais] Yes, the 20D is not in the Canon USA EOS home page, and (ugh!) is marked as discontinued in the eXpansys store (you can check it at: http://www.expansys-usa.com …?code=CAN_EOS20DBD).QUOTE (external link)]

Called Expansys UK and they confirmed that the 20D has been 'discontinued' either due to a new Canon product release or they can't get hold of stock? Checked all their international sites and they all list the 20D as 'discontinued' ? Why would it be out of stock on ALL 36 Expansys international sites? Surely they would have stock somewhere? The mystery deepens...

Let's not forget the built-in MP3 player. Did your source reveal anything as to whether or not it would work with iTunes?

That's right and you can stream pod casts on them too. I can't wait, but I did hear my pet rat say that it is going to cost $23,000. But that is just a rumor.

I got mine in B&H less than a week ago...

I've seen at least two other instances where dealers have shown knowledge that the 20D is being discontinued shortly. One source stated that the camera was officially going to "clearance" mode (as in, we're not getting any more new ones in), and another said that a replacement would be announced within a couple of weeks.

I wonder if Canon was doing some maintenance and upgrades to the web site in preparation of the new announcement. They did something similar just prior to the introduction of other bodies.

Then again, they've been known to lose lenses for a day or two (the 17-40 comes to mind).

Its the right time of year for an announcement - in time to stock up by Christmas. That's when the first Drebel and the 20D were announced. If there is a consumer or prosumer camera coming, it will likely be announced in August.

Personally, I'm hoping for some lens announcements. There hasn't been a new or upgraded lens since the EF-S 60mm macro. My hope is for a replacement for the 100-400 L - maybe a 200-500 L?

But we can only hope. . .

Have Fun,

New lenses - think w-i-d-e!

And a 200-400 f/4L would be nice also. I'd probably sell the 100-400 for that gem.

Well stranger things have happened, seems unusual though, unless they release a minor upgrade to it perhaps a 20Dv like the film EOS30 which has had an upgrade to a 30v some time ago?

Wide certainly plays into the strength of the EF-S mount, so that is certainly possible. Plus, summer announcements are about consumer products.

Patiently waiting. . .

Have Fun,

I wonder if Canon will provide an upgrade option for 20d owners who have purchased a 20d only very recently when they bring out the 20da,20dv, 2d what ever it is ?

Or the 20Dn like the did to the Elan 7 (which I see as on the same level as the 20D). I really don't know, but I suspect that something is going to happen to the 20D, independent of a $3000 full-frame camera that other rumors seem to support (and which I'd want to take a good look at if it's real). Too many reports of the 20D going out of production to not think that something's up.

And the competitors haven't been sitting quietly in the background. Canon might see this as an opportunity to produce a camera of similar resolution to Nikon's D2x with lower noise and just a few less features, but at less than half the price.

Have Fun,

Well, if that full-frame rumor is true, they'd better have something in EF mount up their sleeve. I can't afford the 21 mm distagon! :)

Actually, I hear that Canon's working on a full-frame ultra-wide or two to accomodate those that use their 1Ds II. I expect that the solution will not be cheap.

As for EF-S, that 10-22 really looks like a good lens. I expect an 18-70 EF-S USM lens to show up soon, also.

It appears as if the 20D has returned to the Canon USA Website. It has information on the 20Da, which may or may not have been there before, I'm not certain. If it is new, would that mean the 20Da is going to be available in the US soon?

I think the disappearing trick was a result of updates to Canon website to include 20Da information and links. Nothing more and nothing less.

AS to rumours... well they are still rumours at the moment arent they.
