I just got my second 430EX and I have 2 light stands with shoot through umbrellas. I can trigger these with either the ST-E2, or as optical slaves or with long sync cords for those bright days (thanks to Flash Zebra). I figure I can use these as a bit of a portable studio when I don't fee like lugging around my Genesis 200s (2 of them with softboxes) or when I need a portable power source (I don't have battery packs for the Genesis setup yet).

With that said, I'm very new to the studio lighting/strobist community. Does anyone have some basic lighting diagrams or suggestions that could get me started. I've searched through here and have seen a few, but I'm like a sponge and want more knowledge! For the most part, I've been photographing rock bands (promo shots - not live shots) and a few womens' portraits. I'm still in that "building my portfolio" stage so I'm trying to get a lot of practice and experience.

Thanks in advance for any help that you're able to offer!
