Are there any? I've used the search function in this forum and can't seem to find any information for an alternative softbox. Does anybody know what will fit on Alien Bees and what I would need to make it fit, or should I just purchase the Alien Bees softbox?

Thanks in advance.

Softboxes have speedrings, they have adapter rings that are specific to a particular manufactuer's mounting. The key is to find softboxes that easily accept these adapter rings. The good news is that most do.

When looking at softboxes look to see if the manufacturer has adapter rings available.

There are several manufacturers that specialize in adapters. Do a search on B&H or Adorama's websites.

I bought some Visico brand boxes from the Ebay seller http://stores.ebay.com/OEC-Camera-Accessories (external link)

Looks like he's on vacation until May 13th, though.

Try a set of these until you decide what you want. Cheap, but give nice light

I just saw those on B&H and they make a speedring to fit the Alien Bees. If you don't mind me asking...which Photoflex softbox did you purchase? Is there any specific reason that you bought the Photoflex over the Paul Buff softbox?

I have medium which is 24x32. I got the speed ring from AB as it was cheaper than buying from photoflex. Next time i may buy the SR from ebay as they are cheaper still.

I also have photoflex 5' octodome and use photoflex speed ring with my AB800. The foldable strip box that I have is from AB.

+1 for that.
Bought one from a guy that had a ring for a Balcar monolight on it, works just fine with the B800.

FOTODIOX has a nice selection of foldable (EX PRO) softboxes.
They have AB adapters. Many of them come with grids.
