Sigma 8-16 mm zoom lens

While visiting my daughters in east Texas I just had to visit Competitive Camera in Dallas and acquired one of Sigmas new offerings. This lens fills a void in my line up that I never did fill in my 35mm film camera line up. I wasn't looking for a fisheye lens but an extreme W/A and this lens fills that niche very capably. The petal style hood is a permanent part of the lens with an adapter "ring" that slides over the hood and the lens cap attaches to this ring. With a F stop of 4.5-5.6 I feel it is fast enough for my needs with the T2i's iso range. If you are looking for a high quality W/A lens I suggest you check this lens out.

+1 for pictures. I recently got a Tokina, but would love to see how it compares to the new Sigma 8-16! From the internet reviews, looks like the Sigma is a great lens.

Very interested in this lens.

I will post some as soon as I return home from my visit assuming my home is still there after the flooding and tornados heading that way. Going home thursday if the weather isn't too bad for the trip. Ill try to get some shots of the damage in and around Nashville on my way back.

This sounds like a really cool lens. The lack of distortion i see on paper is unreal.

Hard to tell on my work monitor, but looks sharp and has nice color reproduction to me.

I've been eyeing this lens for a few days now, I want something to replace my Sigma 10-20 since I'm not a huge fan of it's IQ, but I don't know if this is much of an improvement.
