Without being routed to INDIA first...
I have an installation error on a new laptop that I can not resolve. I have opened a case with ADOBE and have been waiting for a callback for 8 days.

They escalated my claim and said someone would call me back in 24 hours...that was 6 days ago. Since then all I get is automated emails asking if I have resolved my issue.

If you have a good contact at ADOBE and do not want to post the # here please PM me...

I promise I will not abuse the info...

I Have Adobe CS4 Web Premium... and I get better customer service at the gas station!!!

Windows 7 64bit
It will not get past the checking computer profile page...about 2 minutes in it says adobe has has encountered an error contact support.

In the computer sys log it registers as error code 1402...
that it relates to an MSI file extension...I cannot come up with anything relevant with google.
I have exausted all options i have found online
.
.
I have tried the Clean scripts...Ran Chekdisk...Disabled the UAC's ...Still nothing

Sorry to hear about the install problems neumann. Have you tried searching the knowledge base on the Adobe Forums? Here is some general info I found on installation problems:

This discussion addresses the Error 1402:

I had good success with Adobe working via the Web Support Portal. They were quick on the email response, and the responses are written in perfect English.

I initially talked with a support person via the 800 number, and he invested an hour on the phone with me running through various things. However, after that, when I next tried to install CS4, I had the same error message. Sent a detailed note to Adobe through the Support Portal outlining EVERY step I had taken with the first fellow and within a day had an email response that gave me an additional step to take that cured the issue.

I was on an XP 32-bit system, but this was the process ...

First on the phone:
1. Removed all Adobe products via Add & Remove Programs under the Control Panel.
2. Run Cleanscript3, twice at Level 2 and twice at Level 4.
3. Start -> Run -> %temp% … select all and delete all with Shift-Delete.
4. Start -> Run -> Prefetch … select all and delete all with Shift-Delete.
5. Uninstall FlashPlayer.
6. Run -> msconfig -> Startup Tab … disable all.
7. Run ->msconfig -> Services Tab … check hide Microsoft programs, disable all, recheck FlexNet Licensing.
8. Create a new user account with administrator privileges.
9. Restart. Log in under new user account.

The above did not work, so via the Support Portal I received this advice:

1. Remove the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Anchor Service\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Anchor Service CS4.m.070\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared\FLEXnet Publisher\
2. Reinstall in simplified startup mode (MSCONFIG)

It was the Macrovision Shared folder that was the issue. After that was deleted, CS4 installed fine. You're installing 64 bit on Windows 7 so the same resolution might not apply.

Stu...Thanks, I have looked at that KB several times. It is close to that error key but not the same key. I have tried to adapt the steps listed there but still no luck.

Sue...I have over four hours on the phone with "INDIA" (pardon my cynicism) And the final straw was when they asked if i had my dvd drivers installed!!! Cmon...Give me a little credit.

The web portal has been worse....they just ignore me and send automated responses.

One other item ... one of the emails to me indicated that the Google Desktop (not the Toolbar) could be an issue if it is installed.

Well...another 2 hours on the phone with India! Scrubbed the computer from one end to the other...Still to nop avail!!!

Claim has been "Escalated"....Again as it was last Monday. I can expect a callback from a "Senior technician" in 3-4 business days which translates to Tuesday .....That will have been a total of 15 days waiting for a callback.

I wish I were kidding but there advice was...If you buy another computer it will work

****-You ADOBE, **** YOU

Support your product!!!

Looks like Im stuck processing photos with Dpp, Aviary, and whatever else software I can cobble together until somebody gets back from vacation at ADOBE.

As you can tell I'm ticked off...and believe I have a right to be! But Cooler heads will prevail and I will probably come back and delete this post once I have cooled down some.

Have you tried loading the 30 day tial of say CS5 and see if that loads ok? if it dose then try to install your CS4, I'm thinking that CS5 might put files and folders in the right place and CS4 will use/follow the path maybe.;)
