It was quite a hard day to shoot as it was very overcast.

I still feel that i am only just scratching the surface, so C&C would be most welcome and any ways which would help me improve my work would be appreciated.
thankyou .

I can see them fine.

I think it was a very nice first attempt.

#1: Next time try altering your perspective when you are taking shots of details. Looking down on an object is rarely interesting because this is how we see objects on a daily basis. When you can provide a different perspective it really will make an image sing.

#4 You cropped off the top of the cylinder holding the floating candle.

The portraits: The lighting is a little flat and your subjects a little underexposed relative to the background. Also, be very careful of the shadows behind the bride and groom when you have a very close background (like in the wooden gazebo). Like in #8 I can tell that you rotated your camera to the left with the flash on top because their shadows are being cast to camera right. Try experimenting with some off-camera flash if possible.

Also your crops on some of the portraits were a little tight where you are missing their shoulders. When taking pictures of people I try to leave a little bit of room around the edges so I can crop to different perspectives if I need it.

All-in-all I think it was a good first go. You should be very happy.

If you want to provide a few more pics I might be able to give you a few more suggestions.

1. I would like to see the color version of this one. Selective color can work but Im not sure If Im completely feeling it in this photo. I know the shoes are probably white but maybe if you also allowed their natural white to shine through, it would work?

2. Simple and beautiful concept seen many times. Im sure they will love this one. Was the bokah created in post processing or on camera?

3. I like the colors and focal points on the picture. The crop is wrong because you are missing part of the candle

4. Too much of the bride is missing compared to the other girl. Maybe crop in a little closer to the right. The picture has a very snapshot feel to it. Its ok to see people in a photo not looking at the photographer but its got to have an artistic feel to it. Something that lets you know what their focus is on?

5. The background is underexposed and the forground feels flat.

I think its safe to say the rest of the images still carry a snapshot feel to them. You have to be creative with your own artistic expression to make the moments stand out. They are flat and underexposed.

On a positive note, I think the bride and groom will still be happy. Most people do not see the things through a photographers eye.

I like the colors in the original picture. It feels warmer and more genuine.

I think you have a knack for inanimate objects but must work on composition and posing with human subjects. IM still working on that myself and still come off with snapshot looking pictures or images with cut off body parts. Its just a conscious effort and the more stressful a shoot, the easier it is to get lost.

I have yet to see a photo that had PP bokah that worked. I think if it didnt work on camera, then the next best option is a vignette. Not PP bokah.
