I agree with the other comenter, I like the color version better. I would like to also make two suggestions for next time. (1) Don't frame the picture so close to the dog's mouth. It looks cut-off on the bottom. (2) Set-up the shot with a better background. The leg or frame in the background is distracting.

+1 on the frame in the background and the tight crop on the nose. Perhaps add a tad of black vignette to maybe isolate the dog a little?
