Last year the Sandhill Cranes That hang out near the house laid eggs 4 times and failed each time. This year they laid eggs in March and then abandoned them.
They laid two eggs on April 9, 2010. Today they both hatched and these are their first photos.
The one on the right was still wobbly on its feet. The one on the left could barley stand, it just wanted to get under mom's feathers.

Stay tuned for more.

Cute shots. I just finished a birding tour around the state and saw sandhill crane chicks several times. It has been a good spring for them, I guess.

Thanks Stan;
This pair raised two babies in 2008. I am looking forward to watching these grow.
