A few pics from the recent Tour of the Sperrins rally high in the NW hills of Ireland, this is a round of the Northern Ireland Rally Championship. Glorious day of rallying and a brilliant event, well organised and run. I included a lot more scenery in these shots than I normally like doing and would like to know what you guys think of my efforts, all comments appreciated, and thanks for looking. A few more on my flickr page of this event also

Well I love them too, being a massive advocate of this type of shot.
It's really great to see the rally terrain and type of roads, and looks like some peachey cars competing.

Thanks for posting.

Hi Michael, really captured the atomosphere, colour and feel of the event. Fantastic shots. Did you make a rapid move after that McNulty shot, from the stories I heard he must have ended up pretty close to where you shot from there:)

Nice shots, I like the backgrounds :) that promise many jumps on the road.

Thanks Tom was fortunate with the weather on the day and could'nt resist some shots down hill and the zoom really does a good job at compressing the countryside. I have travelled about quite a bit on your side of the 'pond' and the scenery is quite similar - hope you include some of it in your Clark shots, looking forward to seeing your post :)

Cheers for the comment Chris, appreciated, took your advice and tried to acheive a bit more width in my shots and am pleased with the results i acheived. I went out a week before the event to try and find somewhere worthwhile and it paid off, although you wont always get the chance to do this in advance but if you can I would def recommend doing a recce.

Hi Kevin, have'nt moved that quick since I use to run to catch the school bus. He lost the Evo from just about the point where that shot was taken, ironic thing was we we were all talking about accidents and safety just before this happened, thankfully we were safe enough and Enda was okay after a checkup in the hospital. A quick change of underwear and everyone was ready for the 2nd run :D BTW the RPM guys were on the scene so it prob will be on their highlights soon.

Appreciate the kind comments Elvis, yep those stages are classic car breakers, dry roads, sunshine and 100% driver commitment - all the necessary ingredients for a perfect days rally action :)

Thanks Ricas, not sure if you mean nr.1 or nr.3, personally I prefer nr.1

Some very nice stuff here Mikey, and your decision to try some wider shots has paid dividends. Fantastic lighting in all of them, although a shame they weren't getting a bit more air over that jump.

I think I'd be tempted to clone out those two vehicles in #1 & #8.

Thanks Rhod, appreciate the comments and yes you are right, I can see now the distraction of the red car and white van in the distance, not exactly conspicuous are they :D I think that jump fooled a lot of the togs and the RPM film crew as they all turned up hoping for some decent footage and shots. As it turned out the section leading up to that jump was very bumpy causing some off the cars to bottom out so in the interests of self preservation the crews backed off a little. The Evo in shot nr.4 probably gained more height than any but on landing he lost it and flew off the road.

What happened after you took the picture of Enda McNulty (car 15 4th picture down) landed hard did you run?
If you didn't you must have been the only one who didn't!!

You bet we did ! I dropped into a ditch behind and everyone else scarpered up a laneway behind a stone bank :)
