I have been asked to be the photographer for my son's baseball league. I am not really a sports photographer more of an illustrator by trade so here are some shots from the game and then a more illustrative style one.

play at the plate (note the catcher's glove that one hurt)

This is my son and this was shot at ISO 200 24 -70 f2.8 lens shot at 2.8 1/8000 of sec with HSS using two 430 EX II flashes shooting through the same umbrella at camera right. More of this shoot and other like it can be seen at my flickr (external link) account. or here

Being little league.. you may want to get down lower to get more face in that fielding shot. I'd crop the hitting shots to remove the space on the left and add more on the right instead if you only have that angle to shoot the batters from.

The last one's kind of cool, but not being an artist, I don't know if all the sky/space above does anything for the shot or if its artistically good :)

DHMN thanks for the comments I appreciate them. I understand that I should be lower my biggest problem is that I have bad knees so getting lower is not always easy but you are right that would improve the shots a great deal. I just took a quick look through my batting shots and they all could use a little more room on the right. Thanks for the comments as I said I am not a sports photographer so I do appreciate all the help. As far as the sky in the last shot I left it in for room to crop for different formats but int he final crop much of it will be cropped out. Thanks again.
