Wow, what an ordeal!!! I took 3 dogs in to the vet today to get vaccinated for rattle snake bites. I guess it's something new and if the dog gets bitten it's suppose to make their reaction to the venom slower. You then have time to get them into the vet to be properly taken care of. Since hubby saw 3 rattlers yesterday, we decided it would be a good idea to have this done.

Never heard of anything like that. Interesting. If I may ask, what does snake vaccination cost? Sounds hokey to me but I am going to the googles.

It cost around $18 I think. I would have to double check on our reciept. They have to get a booster in 3 weeks also.

More than reasonable and from the first link I am reading it seems to work yet is best soon after the vaccine.

For the record in case anyone else was curious. I removed everyone I do not know personally and locally from my Facebook account without discrimination. Take nothing personal, it wasn't. ;) I just found myself inundated by things I could not keep up on and was missing a lot of stuff I didn't want to miss from the people I interact with on a more personal level.

That is all I will say :)

What? You don't like drinking from the fire hose?

People who regularly handle poisonous snakes get it done as a matter of routine - antivenin has a shelf life, so keeping a stock on hand doesn't make a lot of sense economically.

$18.45 to be exact. And the booster costs the same. After the booster, the vaccination is suppose to be good for a year.

I bet it is good longer than a year in that case. That's great. I remember years ago there was a trend starting where people felt treating a rattler bite with a stun gun:shock: was beneficial. I remember the hunting mags talking about it. I wonder if that was debunked.

Nah. It works just fine - keeps you calm and stable while your system neutralizes the poison instead of leaving you flailing around in agony and spreading it all through the circulatory system. Localizes any damage.
