Nah. It works just fine - keeps you calm and stable while your system neutralizes the poison instead of leaving you flailing around in agony and spreading it all through the circulatory system. Localizes any damage.

No, not so much. Later, when he realized I was more on his side than the a$$ I hosed, he put himself down as the complainant rather than the guy. That way the guy couldn't,t come after me. Then they dropped the case and released me. Gotta love old D.C. way of doing stuff.

Glad it worked out for you.... kinda crazy! Perhaps that is why there is a Z in crazy? They made that word just for you ;) Love ya Zane!!!!

Wow...go away for a few and return to nasty Krusty Kremes all over the place. I sure hope the exported versions are better than the crap that comes from the original shops here. There are a couple of mom and pop type joints with decent goods...but chains like Drunken Dognuts and Krusty Kreme are mostly fried sugar...yuck!

I only like ONE Dunken Doughnut... and I love me some Krispy Kreme doughnuts!!!!

Thanks, Z.

Based on PMs I've received, I guess my last offering was a little clumsy. Apparently I didn't express myself clearly, so my apologies to all who might have been offended. I do not intend to expand further on my thoughts. Those who think less of me can think what they like, but I do really and truly care about every who participates in this thread. If that notion is offensive or unbelievable, then nothing else I can say is going to change anyone's mind.

This is one of those days when I would have been much better served by sitting in the corner, playing with the Velcro tabs on my adult diaper.

I love the sound of Velcro.

Evening roomies, home from an evening at the pool. all showered up and in my jammies, watching the "tooth fairy" with my guy.

I spent the evening at the pool too! I'm really excited one of my hallmates at work is a member too! We sat and talked the whole time! It was great! We've deicded to plan a big pool party for our building later this summer! I'm excited!

Tomorrow I'm leaving for Wilmington for the weekend... will be home Tuesday evening! WOOT! Monday and Tuesday I do have to work but Saturday and Sunday are MINE!!!!!!!!!

I just wish I could have expressed myself as well as you did. We don't have to all like each other all the time, but we do all have something to offer each other here, even in our off days (and some of them are more off than others, right Chet? :{)# ).

Never heard of anything like that. Interesting. If I may ask, what does snake vaccination cost? Sounds hokey to me but I am going to the googles.

We're getting them for our dogs too. In the last month at Apple Valley we've seen 3 rattlers, and just yesterday Wade had to kill one that was close to where we were working.

We go out there all the time with the dogs, and with it being a highly concentrated area of rattlers, I won't take my dogs out there again this summer without them being vaccinated.

Cool race track story... jumping in here randomly...

NASCAR does lots of military tributes for the coca-cola 600. They did an era by era piece. And had era appropriate flyovers for WWII, Korea and Vietnam. There were tons of military folks invited. They had pit passes and were free to walk the infield.

Our viewing platform truck always has a banner on it that says "Salute the troops" We hang it every race. It failed to have printed on it US Coast Guard. So a group of Coasties came by and asked where it was... so we gave them a sharpie... they wrote it on there and then signed it. Some how it came up that they had a couple of USCG hats. I asked for one... and after a little convincing they gave it to me!

We invited them to come back to view the race from our truck. When they came back I was still wearing the hat they gave me. I thanked them again for it, and had my picture taken with them. Then they told me that while they were in the pits that Jimmie Johnson came out and they asked if he wanted a hat... he said he'd be honored and took the other hat. Pretty cool I thought!

I also met the pilots that flew the F-15s during the flyovers! They were cool guys too!

What happens infield... stays infield for the most part.... giggle however I just HAD to share!

That is cool Jenn. Glad you had a great time.

The dog who is dotted was playing with dogs over at my parents and they all went in spaz mode while my sister had hers on a long leash. The were all tangled, trying to rip around, I told Zoë to come and she was ignoring me ripping through the leash when I dove to catch your butt. I caught her, I also broke my toe. I assume it is broke being all purple, swollen, and not wanting to move.

Ouch. hope your toe gets better soon Zane and that Zoe stops finding it

So I want to be able to be done with month-end and hopefully leave early on Friday. Follow-up appointment this afternoon for my root canal or I'd be staying late tonight too. Then a week off with Aiden here!:D:D:D

I don't remember what I've shared here, and what I've shared on FB, but Grandma is in her 11th year with Alzheimers.
Grandpa took care of her as long as he could, and she is now in a really wonderful home that specializes in Alzheimers. She's been there almost a year. I haven't seen her since she went in.
Grandpa goes and visits her almost daily, and has lunch with her.

It was SO good to see her. She was having a good day, very happy, very huggy. All smiles.
It was good for the kids to see her as well, and I'm glad that she was having a good day.

She looks happy Cat. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with her, when she was having a good day

Joppa is OK!!! The gas was mostly in his intestines, not his stomach. They gave him some anti-nausea stuff, some anti-gas stuff and a shot of antibiotics and sent him on his way about 4 AM. $700 dollars lighter, but at least we know he's OK.

they did blood and urine work too and said he is in fantastic shape for a 12 year old Akita. billy said there was a cat (out of a cage) there and Joppa could have cared less, you KNOW he was in pain!! As soon as the tech came out he went right with them and was happy to be there, like he knew they would make him feel better. There were kisses all around when he was leaving!!!

Glad Joppa is ok Crissa.

For reasons I do not feel like going into I am most likely going to be selling my gear, body, lenses etc.

That said, is anyone in here interested in anything I have or know someone that would be? This isn't 100% guaranteed that I'm selling but it's looking more and more likely as the days go by. I'll probably be picking up a P&S with the money (subject of another thread)so as to keep at least my pinky toe in the sandbox.

Anyhow, off the top of my head I have the 5D, 17-40 L, 28-75 2.8 Tammy, 70-200 f/4 L and nifty fifty.

PM me if you want as keeping track of responses in this thread is very hard for me as I cannot get onto POTN like I used to. :(

Hope things start to look up for you Kody

Was out at Eli's playoff game, they won. Eli hit at every at bat and scored the winning run, he got a game ball and is over the moon :D Mama used the 135 for some then switched to the 70-200 as I couldn't get far enough away for plays at home.

That is great for Eli and his team.

For FP, who recently inquired about my wedding contract:

Greetings!

Thank you for choosing Focus on Life Photography for your wedding. We hope that you will enjoy the photos you receive! If you don't, well, you suck, cuz, DANG, these shots will be killer. Really. But more on that later.

We have established various packages so as to give out clients as many options as possible and we have recently added an "Ala Carte" for more control over the selection.

Ultimate, Golden and Blow-Your-Mind package:
  • I'll get there really early; like before you finish your first cup of coffee early. I'll start documenting everything I see. Seriously, you'll be wanting to issue me a restraining order before the day is out. But you'll get a whole bunch of shots. A whole lotta. You'll have to buy a freakin' new computer just to store all of them. And they'll be INCREDIBLE. Trust me. Your girlfriends will want to get a divorce just so they can get remarried and have me do their wedding photos.
  • ........ $100,000 <---- please note the number of zeroes.

Theses Ain't Yo Mama's Photos Package:
  • I'll get there early, but after I've had something to eat. I'll take some shots of you getting ready and stuff, but I may take off to do something else, like get the oil changed in my Jeep or shoot some pool. I'll come back in time for the pre-wedding cwap and take some standard, kitschy shots of junk that's lying around the church. I'll stick around afterwards and shoot the reception just so that you can always refer back to when your Uncle Larry got plastered and puked all over the minister. All those really cool shots that your best friend had of her wedding day? Yeah, you'll get stuff like that, but my shots will ROCK in comparison, whereas your friends shots will look like they were taken by a blind, quadriplegic Ocelot that's strung out on cheap heroin.
  • ...... $50,000 <----- a BARGAIN! really.

I'd Rather Spend Money On Some Stupid Honeymoon Than On Some Stupid Shots I'll Never Look At Again Package:
  • Just for the budget minded, we have added this package where I will show up about an hour before the wedding, take some quick snaps of you and whoever is standing around, do some random detail shots and be sure not to give off my totally irritated attitude. I'll take a few shots of the ceremony and probably stick around a little afterwards in hopes of scoring some free food. If you don't cut the cake soon, that won't be included in the gallery. For this package, time's a-tickin'.
  • ..... $5,000 <---- worth every penny.

Blind, Quadriplegic Ocelot That's Strung Out On Cheap Heroin Package:
  • Hey, we all know that tough economic times hit us all. Sometimes, though, love just cannot wait. I understand this. And to show that I'm a sensitive photographer, I have this package available for those that are struggling financially. In this package, I will still offer the high quality and artistic photographs that the other packages offer, but I will be taking those shots with my Dad's old Polaroid camera. But, Hey! Think about it! You'll be able to put your photos directly into that cheapo album you bought off of Wal*Mart's bargain table! I'll probably be there just in time for the ceremony and I'll take as many shots as I can before Dad's camera gives up the ghost. Whatever shots it does produce will be good, trust me!
  • ...... $500 <----- suck it up, Princess. It don't get cheaper than that.

Ala Carte: (each selection is $1,000)
  • 1 hour of pre-wedding shooting
  • 1 hour of formal posing with family
  • 15 minutes of formal posing with totally plowed family
  • 1 minute of formal posing with incredibly ugly and equally plowed family
  • 30 minutes of ceremony
  • 1 hour of post wedding
  • 1 hour of reception

Payment: We request half up front, at least one month before the ceremony, with the remainder paid in full upon our arrival on the day of the wedding. If you are unable to come up with the deposit, then the full amount, plus a 10% fee will be required on the wedding day. If you are unable to pay the remainder on the wedding day, then we are willing to discuss alternatives; as long as those alternatives include us walking away with the deposit laughing uproariously at your plight. If you are unable to pay the deposit AND the remainder, then why the heck are we having this conversation?

Once you pay the deposit, then your date is scheduled. If, for some reason, like your boyfriend gets cold feet and bolts for Mexico or you decide that the Best Man is really the Best Man and not the Groom, and the wedding is cancelled, we still keep the deposit. We will, however, like to photograph the Break-Up. We'll do that totally "Pro Bono".

Once we agree on the day of the wedding, that date is a lock. That is unless someone comes up to me and offers me more Moolah. So, let's say that your wedding is for July 3rd. You pay me the deposit of $50,000 and we lock that date. But then, out of the blue, your best friend comes up and says that SHE'S getting married on July 3rd and is willing to set down a deposit of $50,000.01. Well, you're outta luck. Unless, of course, you start the bidding war over me. Googly Moogly, I just LOVE that. ka-CHING!

Working Conditions: During the shoot, we will require a 15 minute break every two hours. If we're working longer than 6 hours, then we will require a meal. If we're working for longer than 8 hours, DANG! We want a massage, a case of beer and an all expense paid two week trip to Cancun.

Quality: We strive to create the best images in the industry. What am I saying, we DO create the best images in the industry. If you don't like the shots you receive, for whatever reason, then, well, YOU'RE FREAKIN' BLIND. You're just some money grubbing wench that's trying to rip me off. GAA! I can't stand people like you.

If you pursue "legal action", as in, you try to sue me, don't. Really. I know where you live. I'd really hate to see anything "unfortunate" happen to you so soon after getting married. You just think that over very carefully.

Shooting Policy: We are professionals in every way. As soon as we arrive at the venue, we consider ourselves at work. We understand that this is a very special day, not just for you, but for your whole family. In this digital age, everyone seems to have a camera. We understand this. We will try to be accommodating to the other family members that want to take shots during our very tight time frame. Here's something that you may want to think about: If your 85 year old grandma stands in front of my shot just so she can try to figure out her little, plastic Fisher-Price, 2 megapixel camera, I will take her out at the knees. With no guilt and no hesitation. I've done it before, and I rather enjoyed it. Just wanted to get that out in the open.

Thank you again for allowing us to be a part of your special day! We look forward to working with you to achieve the very best!

LMAO - it is great Dan

Parental contract:

The following is a contractual agreement between the parental units (heretofore called, "Parents") and their offspring (heretofore called, "Spawn" or whatever else I feel like calling them). This agreement, once signed, is binding yet amendable. Procedures for amending this contract will be discussed below.

Duties of the Parents:

Whatever they feel like.

Duties of the Spawn:

Whatever the Parents DON'T feel like.
Whatever the Parents deem to be "character building" for the Spawn.
Whatever the Parents deem as their entertainment for the Spawn to perform.

Expectations:

Parents: To provide the basic necessities of life. Shelter, food and clothing.
Shelter would mean: Not in the rain.
Food would mean: Whatever was made for dinner.
Clothing would mean: That which keeps you dry, modestly attired and safely shod.

Shelter would NOT mean: any car you want to stay out of the rain.
Food would NOT mean: whatever your incredible metabolism can handle
Clothing would NOT mean: clothes that are guaranteed to make you cool, or fall off your body whenever the wind speeds exceed a half a knot, or make you look like a tramp. If a Parent has a choice between shoes that cost $20 or shoes that some overpaid, felonious basketball player endorses that cost over $50, the Spawn be wearing new shoes and the Parent will be pocketing the extra $30.

The Parents will address NEEDS first, not WANTS. It will behoove the Spawn to understand the difference as soon as possible.

Spawn: Whatever. The Parent. Says. Until you pay for everything in the house, this is not negotiable.

Specific Items:

Dad: You will be expected to know everything. Once you actually start knowing everything, then everyone will suddenly not want to know it.

Mom: You will work harder, and longer, than anyone else. You will worry over everything. You will make sure every single thing is just "so". In exchange, we will set aside a Sunday morning in May where the rest of the family will attempt to make a breakfast that you will have to clean up later.

Son: You will be expected to make your Parents worry about what the heck is going on in your brain. Don't worry, this will come naturally.

Daughter: Ever see those jewels that are locked up in some well guarded tower? Beautiful, yet never to be seen or touched? Protected jealously? Yeah, that's you. Get used to it.

Environment: It is everyone's job to turn up the heat. It is the Dad's job to turn it back down and pass out sweaters to the Heat Leeches in the house.

Punishment: The phrase, "I brought you into this world, I will take you out" was never meant to be funny.

Amendment Policy: This contract may be amended whenever one or both of the Parents feel like it. It's just that easy. Conversely, the Spawn will recite this contract every Saturday evening without fail.

Laughing so hard, I could not catch my breath.

Dearest Threadies,

This has been rattling around in my head for a number of days now and I just need to get it out.

As you may have noticed I’ve been very absent of late. Part of this is due to how busy I have been with my seniors and the biggest part is an issue that popped up on Facebook.

I discovered that one of the folks in here had unfriended me and, when I noticed this, I sent the person a message and was told that I was let go due to my supposed penchant for causing drama in the thread.

While I totally respect the person’s opinion and right to unfriend me, I will honestly say I was rather hurt by it.

So, I took a break. It was ok I guess. I needed more time....I got more time....but I missed you guys. I missed chatting with you and I missed having TPBM be a part of my life.

The other day I discovered that in addition to the original person, I was also dropped by two others on Facebook. Very ouch.

So, I can take a hint. I’m weary of fighting to be a part of this thread when I am so clearly not wanted by several. I’m weary of being accused of causing drama. I’m weary of having to guard myself and suppress my inner freak because I might offend someone. I’m so over being thought of as unethical and icky. I’m just tired of putting so much in and not getting much out.

So, this is my official goodbye. I’ve been very honored to get to know some of you and truly miss having you as part of my daily routine.

And, well, the next thread can be titled the Fafa free (FINALLY!!! WOOHOO!!) TPBM chat thread.

I encourage those of you who care to keep in touch with me on facebook as lord knows I’m a junkie there.

And, if you are sick of me, feel free to unfriend me and/or put me on ignore in case you see me out in the POTN world....can’t hurt anymore than I already do. And to those who unfriended me already, please don’t PM me or contact me in any way. I don’t want you to feel like you should apologize or anything and honestly, I don’t want to hear from you.

Thank you so much for being a part of my life for so long. You will be missed. I wish you all the best.....sending healing vibes to Zane and Deb and much health and happiness to them and the rest of you as well!

hugs kisses and love to those who want it (and wool get your hand off my ass),

Fafa we will miss you, but there is always FB and Skype.

Just got a call from my airman son. Looks like the AF has blessed him with a 4 day pass over the 4th. Gonna be good to see him again. It's been some time.

That is great news John

A few thoughts about Tiffany's post......

1. I hope she reconsiders, but I am in total sympathy to the feelings of being unwanted. There are times when TPBM draws into itself and becomes a very small community. That's okay; some of you have formed a very tight bond, and can't be expected to act differently. There are some of us who recognize that we simply don't have the ability to crack the inner circle, and we're fine with it.

2. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one person who posts here regularly who genuinely dislikes me. I once considered leaving the thread because of that individual, but ultimately decided that there are enough genuine friends here who would not understand that logic. So here I am, and so shall I remain. Hopefully someday this person and I will work out our differences, and things will be peachy again. In the meantime, we give each other lots of room, and try not to make things worse. I would hope FaFa and whomever could find it in their hearts to do the same.

3. This is the TPBM chat thread, but in reality, it is a safe haven for people who seemingly don't have a lot of interest in discussing photography to the excusion of everything else. I see people talking about all sorts of things: dogs, horses, illnesses, injuries, travel, social injustice, romance, divorce, grandchildren, food, movies, trains, and occasionally, photography. Subject to constraints on discussion that have been imposed by the forum, there are no limits on what we can talk about here. I suppose that leaves me a little puzzled about what constitutes unacceptable subject matter, and what doesn't, who makes that determination, and how do we enforce it?

Speaking only for myself, I have great affection for everyone here (yes, even 'that' person). I can't imagine a day without logging on and seeing what everyone is up to, what time Zane finally got to bed, what new toys Neil has purchased, Paris' newest outfit, the latest in apron fashions, Lisa's latest roasting experiments, remodeling projects, TR 'toons, and so forth. I also enjoyed Tiffany's contributions. Yes, she had a couple rough edges, but I believe she really tried to get along, and she's a very talented photographer. Like everyone else here, I consider her a friend, and her departure saddens me.

Beyond that, let's keep it light.

Could not say that better
