Hello,
this is my first ever macro photo (in which details of fly's eye are visible). I used Canon EF-S 55-250 IS coupled with reversed Helios 44M 58mm mf lens on Rebel XT. Everything was hand held (even the reversed lens). It's a bit noisy, had to use ISO 800 to get a decent shutter speed. Did not imagine this could require so much light. Took me quite a bit to get it right. Figuring out what combination of lenses and aperture settings I should use for a decent quility was the hardest part. Anyway, there's the result. Comments and critique are always welcome :)

Nice work! Did you edit this at all? I like the composition of it.

My first legit camera is a Canon AE-1 Program, given to me as a birthday present from my best friend. And so my obsession begins...

Thanks, noopi. Yeah, it's cropped a tiny bit for composition and colors are tweaked a bit and a touch of usm.

Good point, racketman. I'll try harder next time :)

Good detail captured but looks like the flash is largely missing the subject ?

True. I used on-camera flash and the lens simply blocked most of the light.
