Back at work and took this 3:30 AM photo. I wanted the reflections off the lake and the evening was cloudy so I got up early for this shot. Looking to the east, no city lights for 100's of miles.
Not sure what to do with it in the way of processing. Any ideas?
Taken on the 100 anniversary of Glacier

I love the place, but would like to see it without star trails :P. I know that that is the main focus, but try with a black sky, white stars, fog comes rolling in and the silhouette of the mountain.

Very nice! It's on my list of place i'm definitely visiting in the next few years. I'd try to darken the sky up a little bit, especially that orange glow to it.

Very nice, on both shots! I agree on the orange glow, but other than that, it is pretty much a wall-hanger in my book!

Great star trail shot. How exactly do you take a star trail photo? I'm going to be at Glacier NP at the end of July and would love to try some. I teach science and show my students star trail pics. It would be neat to show them one that I took myself!

July will require you to get up early since the sunset and sunrise are so late and so early. I used a wide angle lens at f2.8 and aimed to the north. Tripod and shutter release cable. I tried several different times and all seemed to work. I saw some great pics where the ASA was 3200 and shutter open for only 30 sec. No star trails but great milky way pictures.

I work at Bowman lake as the host. No light pollution because the nearest electricity is many miles away. Look me up when you get here.
