I've got a shoot next week with a gogo dancing group, 6 people total. For ligthing I've got 3 bowens espirit 750's and then another 500ws bowens strobe. I've got one large sofbox, one medium softbox, few umbrellas, some grids, etc... to work with.
They will need to pose either reall close, or in two rows as my seamless is only 9 feet wide (I think that's how wide it is?) and need a tad bid left over on each side. (Can photoshop the rest of it in)
So for lighting, I'm thinking two umbrellas on the back wall 2 stops over the key light to blow it totally white. (will be about 12' from the back of the wall hopefully so shouldn't get too much bounce back from the wall)
Then I was thinking that having the large softbox above me kind of dead center but up a bit? I was thinking that would be flatter looking than I'd normally like, but would be a good trade off on keeping the light even across them, and also not casting shadows on each other.
Never done this yet so maybe I'm way off? Any ideas?
Otherwise I could setup like two umbrellas to light up the group, and then maybe some geled backgrounds or something to match their outfits? Then put the two umbrellas at like 45 degrees out from them and then down a bit?
Anyway, any ideas, suggestions, etc, would be great. I did try to google for group lighting and kept getting links for lighting groups of like 20 or more people.
