Has Canadians have to pay GST & PST when buying from Ebay.ca ?

Does the government tax items coming from either US or Hong Kong ? I live in Ontario where everyone pays those taxes. I am wondering if I have to pay tax for packages ship from Hong Kong.

I've bought lots of items from Hong Kong with no tax or duties but you may have to pay GST on things from the U.S. Also make sure that shipping from the States is U.S.P.S. or you wil pay brokerage fees.

It's not a matter of ebay. It's a matter of where the item is shipped from.

Most imported stuff is taxable, some of it duitable. Depending on shipping method, your item might be stopped and taxed or not.

depending on the value and the item description on the package.

If value is less than $100 and marked as Gift, then no tax/duty is required.

If the value is well over a few hundred bucks, you may have to pay GST / Duty, "PST" may depend on the person who does your custom, if they mistaken you as some business owner, you may be lucky to not pay the 7% PST.

There's no duty on photo gear.

However, you will have to pay GST and PST if your province charges it. However, as mentioned above, if you get them to mark it as a "gift" and it's low value they won't bother. Sometimes you get lucky...I ordered my Tokina 11-16 from Japan and they refused to mark it as a gift and marked the actual value on it (technically it's fraud to mark it as a "gift", so reputable retailers won't do it) and for some reason I didn't have to pay anything when it arrived. But that was mostly dumb luck haha.

Avoid UPS at all costs...usually they fornicate with your orifices without your consent.
