Trying some new approaches to backgrounds, thought this looked cool.

Any thoughts?

It is nice and clean, but almost too clean. Honestly, it looks sorta fake. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's nice to see pictures that make you question what's real. But the blue and yellow seem too uniform to me. There is no gradient from any light fall off and there's not any ripples or movement outside of the crater. Was this PP'ed at all? One thing I might fix is the yellow/blue boundary bends at the bottom.

Despite my criticism I do like it. Good job.

Hahah, I love when one nails an image that people call fake.

Apart from some color boosts, the cloning out of a few oof splashes and a small unsharp mask this is as shot. I'll take the questions as compliments.

Blue and yellow was printed from my printer to gloss photo paper. There is no light falloff as the flash was bounced from the background on to the water drop zone. There are no ripples because this was the first corona in the drip sequence the ripples come once this corona settles back down. The bend at the bottom was due to the reflection of the background at a point where it curved as a result of its mounting for the shot.

Here is the image as it was shot, untouched, unsharpened, completely RAW.....

You can definitely see a light fall off in the Yellows with it getting darker towards the left extremities of the image.

Cheers,
'Cam'

I like the different background. Though I think I like the original with the extra droplets in place. Props for trying something different!

The extra drops make it look real. The original is so clean as to look like it was cut and paste in. Overall, cool idea and execution.

The likeness between the selection of the back ground and the Ukrainian flag is undeniable. I slected my colors completely arbitrarily.

Cheers for all the comments, much appreciated.
Mark.
