Thanks to Jet Blues 10 year anniversary special, in which all flights were 10 dollars if you took off Tuesday and returned Wednesday, my GF and I were able to take a 24 hours trip to Aruba. The morning we were to leave I was putting away all my stuff and I hear my girlfriend on the balcony saying "here birdie birdie". I walk over and saw this little fellow so i ran back and got my camera plus some fries to keep him around. He was very straight forward and even took food right from my GFs hands.

He also was very territorial as he would charge other smaller birds who approached our balcony. This fellow could only watch :(

As my girlfriend was able to feed our first visitor

We left some more fries and can only assume our friend continued to lay claim to it and the balcony as he bid us farewell and safe trip!

Im no bird shooter as the rest of you but i thought this was a very intresting way to end our 24 hours in Aruba. More shots to be found in my Flickr. Hope you enjoy and C&C is always welcomed!

Tough crowd on this side of the forum. Does anyone at least know what type of bird this is?

The first one looks like a Mourning Dove. As for the second one, I'm not sure either but it looks like a house sparrow. I hope someone clarifies these for you though!!

Nice story, Omar. Hope you had a great trip! As Dan said, the first bird is a mourning dove, the second is a male house sparrow. :D

We have morning doves all over the place. I find it ironic that the dove is a bird of peace, but they are feisty, mean birds themselves. :)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Thanks Dan for going through the trouble of double checking! I have no clue beyond just a few birds what they are :o

I was really surprised with how territorial the Dove became. As soon as any other bird landed on the balcony it would charge at them.

Thanks everyone for your comments as i had no clue what bird i was looking at!
