I started out filing all my shots by date, activity or event, and then giving file names to the ones I kept for PP and printing. Wasn't long before there were about a hundred files named date/rivertrip/birdfromboat. Just had to be.

When my Australian cork hat wearing Great Grandmother came to the Uk and moved in with us she immediately christened me "Winkler". A name I wrongly assumed because she confused me with the Middle aged Henry who was playing a teenager at the time. Sadly it was only after failing an hearing test and having to get my ears syringed, when I realised that I was more of a Paul Anka or a merchant banker. Hence my username is a tribute to the old bat. Rest in peace, Grandmama.

There isn't much mystery to mine. I just love fantastic photos. I can be at a persons house without know much on that person and enjoy looking at the photos. Kind of tells me about them and the photographer

The first pet we ever had that was legitimately mine was a cat that we took in. He was about 3-4 pounds when we rescued him (and had icicles dangling from his Maine Coon tufts :( ). He was probably the nicest cat I've ever met, and just about the worst hunter I can think of. Seriously, I imagine his version of hunting in the wild was opening up his mouth and hoping something was stupid enough to fly in.

Anyway, seeing as he was starving, he kept his survival habits for quite a while, i.e. eat every bit of food that he could come across. And, seeing as I was 12 or so at the time, I kept seeing his bowl empty and his big, green eyes staring longingly at me and, well...in short order he turned into a 28 pound mound of a kitty. Then I had to make a name for a game (Jedi Knight II actually), and FatCat was the first thing to come to mind. It sort of stuck.

Oh, and the 0 at the end came from the same game. I had to remake my account and my old name was taken still, so I tacked the 0 on. That also stuck.

I think it is self-explanatory when I got my first slr......but I have this feeling that I have to sell the slr in order to 'move on' to greater things in life (Not talking about the 50D by the way)

I chose the screen name in homage to a book (of the same name) that really made me evaluate my life and how I interact with the world. Heavy stuff. :D
