I will also chime in for Zagg. They are awesome!

A few years ago I bought an iphone screen protector and back protector. The product was poorly cut, thus it didn't fit my phone correctly, the corners always lifted and dirt and dust would get in and the worst part - the material was almost "sticky", not smooth like it should be. The phone would always get stuck in my pocket.

I will never buy from Zagg again!

lets all walk around in bubbles so that we never come in contact with anything, and none of our equipment ever shows signs of use

i've had my 5Dii for about a month, and already see three very thin scratches, and I have no idea where they came from (I've been pretty careful, it's my new baby).. I can only guess it's come from my camera bag's zip, which is a bit of a pain. So those screens aren't bullet proof, or even zip proof it seems.

thanks very much for this info, I won't buy a screen protector if I can buy a replacement original backing for the same cost!

ps, it's a bit awkward that the ''screen'' on the back of the camera is theoretically the LCD protector, so if you buy a thin film of plastic to go over the top of that thing, it's really a LCD protector protector.

You don't need no stinkin's protector on Canon DSLRS.

Sure you do. The 7D and 5D3 don't have the cheap factor protector, the LCD is fused to the glass, so if something goes wrong you have to buy the whole assembly.

all canon dslrs already have a screen protector over the lcd. On most it's a very hard plastic, tough to scratch, but easy and cheap to replace (about 15 bucks). The 7D has a glass protector over the lcd so it's even more robust, however slightly more difficult to replace.

Correct. The 5D3 is the same as well. There is no cheap protector; hence why a protective screen is even more valuable.

I prefer to look at clear images on my LCD, not scratched up crap. I'm not a "cover it with plastic" kind of person as I don't even have a case or protector for my iphone, but for my 5D3 I prefer to keep the LCD scratch free.

To answer thew OPs question, I prefer the GGS screen protector. They are glass and have the best optical quality. Very cost effective and it looks just like the stock read LCD glass.

Well, that's great and all until one day you wanna sell the camera. The first thing people wanna know is the condition of the equipment. Scratches and scuffs will always mean a lower price. That is a fact.

I use XO Skin protectors. You Honestly cannot tell its on, and it already saved me. I just noticed a long scratch on the protector which would of most likely been on my LCD instead. (I'll try taking a pic)

I heard The GGS protectors are great as well, but hard to take off and could break, which can damage the LCD.

Wow! Now that is cool... Never thought of using them for that...

I love the Zagg products and have recommended them to family and friends. The screen protectors are a little pricey, but are worth every penny in my opinion. I sure hate seeing a scratch on a reflective surface. My eye is forever drawn to the darn scratch... The protector on my iPhone has been on there for a year of so now and looks as new as the day I put it on. Very easy to wipe off and/or clean...

I once got an indentation on my iPhone screen protector. I think I laid something pointy on top of the screen for an extended period of time. I was worried that it would stay that way forever... with the indentation. Magically, the indentation went away after a couple of hours... Pretty cool I thought...
