I'm almost four months in to what is likely to be a year long condition that has caused me to lose the use of my arm. I'm right handed. I can use my hand for typing for short periods , but my arm can't lift my camera at all, so I haven't taken photos for a long time. I've tried putting my camera which is probably one of the heaviest on the market) on a tripod using my remote shutter, but that is limiting. I can't put up backgrounds etc and the many tasks required in a photoshoot. I know there are people who have missing lim bs etc, who learn to compensate for their disability, and given enough time, I probably could too, but for now, I'm like a cowboy with a lame horse, and it sucks.

Anybody else here have disabilities, long or short term, and how did YOU manage to overcome them to continue shooting?

Most of my disabilities are mental, and there is no compensation.

Actually, I have arthritis and it's becoming very difficult to type or do any fine work.

As for vision, well, it's fortunate that some of the best things in life are best done by Braille.

It's a **** to get old, and the alternative ain't so great, either.

I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease and have walk with an aid like a cane or a walker the walker is great for carrying my Lowe pro magnum case and my sigma 150-500 lens. I use a tripod or monopod for most shots when I am out and have nothing to lean against or on. You get used to or adapt to what ever disabilities you have or basically give in and become a shut-in.
