If you use a 70-200/2.8L IS, can you shed some light on how you carry it around with you on an event shoot (banquet, wedding, party)? My normal mounted lens is a 24-105L or 50/1.4. I love to have my 70-200 with me. Do you carry your entire camera bag? Thanks.

I haven't shot a wedding/party/banquet before, but last time i used one at an event I usually left it mounted the whole time on my neck. The only other lens I carried with me was my Sigma 50 1.4, that I used indoors

If you are going to shoot the 70-200, mount that sucker up, sling it around your neck, and leave all the other bullcrap at home.

for weddings its 24-105 or 24-70 always on one main body and then i switch between the 70-200 and 50mm on second camera. 70-200 stays on second camera most of the time and 50mm fits in my jacket pocket and only comes out for a few shots. but my camera bag is never far away, so if i need something quick i can dive into it.

I wear a toploader around my waist and drop one camera in it and wear the second camera on a strap around my neck. My toploader is deep enough to hold a 70-200/2.8 with the top zipped when the hood is reversed, and I just drop it in there and leave the top open with the hood on when shooting.

I used to wear a vest that had a pocket that was large enough to carry the 70-200 in. I recently switched to a ThinkTank Modular set with a Pro Speed Belt. I liked the vest setup but I LOVE the belt setup. The belt setup looks a little...goofy but it works and works very well. I carry 2 bodies for most events that I shoot and I am able to carry everything extra on the belt.

I wear a shoulder bag, with the gear that I need. Then I have a second bag that's on the side or a private room, where I keep the rest of my gear.
