Best Crumpler bag for my gear?

I have a camera bag but I have now outgrown it with the addition of my latest lens. I have been trying to wade through the numerous options and after deciding that I would most prefer a sling/shoulder/messeng​er type bag, I've realized that the style Crumpler produces is the best for me. Now I'm trying to figure out which Crumpler. I want room to carry what I have, and for possible future additions.

From what I've gathered based on carrying the items in my signature, as well as accessories, the 6MDH is probably too small for future expansion, the 7MDH is probably what I'm looking for, and the 8MDH is too big/overkill for what I have. Before I made the plunge, I wanted to ask on here if that sounds about right, or if I am overlooking a more obvious choice.

The 7 MDH will fit your gear. But I don't think there will be much room for expansion left, unless you hook a couple of Lowepro lens cases to the side straps.

Hmm... thanks for the reply! Maybe I am overestimating the 7MDH then. I don't want something massive but I would like room to expand. I don't want to have to worry about upgrading my bag immediately if I end up with more gear sooner than expected. I'm worried the 8MDH is going to be too bulky for my needs.

The 7 MDH is pretty full for me with a 7D with 24-105, 70-200, Gorillapod and extra betteries/stuff*. I bought it straight from the Crumpler site, so I would definitely suggest going to store with a good bag selection and trying a few out (bring the main part of your gear with you).

The problem I run into is a balancing everyday use (for which a stuffed 7MDH is fine) with traveling use (for which I currently have a Lowepro Fastpack 350, but damn is that ugly). I am thinking about using my Crumpler Dreadful Embarassment (laptop bag) to haul just the body and 24-105 when I am in Japan in a couple of weeks....

*Of course it should be noted that I have the organizational skills of a squirrel on acid...

I have been considering the same thing with a little different twist. Right now I have the canon backpack and it holds most of my stuff but I hate taking it out for day shoots. So my thought was to use the backpack for safely storing the items not carried with me (either at home or car) and the gear I would use at a shoot put it in the crumplier.....but having two bags/cases isn't a very appealing option. That said before you buy do go to a high end photo shop that carriers a variety of bags and check them out. I have seen quite a few bags on bay and a few of the 7mdb's. I decided on the 8MDH from ebags.com because they have a 60 day return policy with free returns (they will send a prepaid shipping label) so I thought this way I have plenty of time to try it out.

Well it is a big bag, but I don't like the way it fits my gear. Granted, I haven't pulled out all of the inserts and rearranged them to my liking, either. With the way it comes pre-arranged I find it much too bulky. Maybe there are too many inserts in there, but, I find myself cramming the lenses in side by side with little wiggle room. Don't get me wrong, I don't want my stuff clinking around, but it is TOO snug. Before I judge it too harshly I should just gut it and play with the inserts and see if I can find a set up that works for me.
