I'm flying home from college in a few days, and didn't want to have to pay extra to carry a third piece of luggage (usually I carry a camera bag, backpack, and suitcase). So, this time, I tried to see what I could fit into my camera bag with some creative rearrangement of the bag's inner dividers.
The bag I currently use is a Versabag Crumpler 7MDH clone. I've owned 2 genuine Crumpler bags in the past (5MDH and 6MDH), and I can't really see a big quality difference in between the Versabag. General build quality of the Versabag is very good. The dividers are sturdy and stay firmly in place after you've arranged them. The bag comes with the same # of dividers as the Crumpler 7MDH. Overall, very impressive considering that it cost $29.99, whereas my last Crumpler 6MDH cost $80+.
Now, as to what it can hold...A LOT!
With all this stuff in there, there was still space to spare!
In the end, I was able to fit my laptop's big 9-cell battery in there, as well as my Panasonic LZ8 Point and shoot camera. Even then, there was still space left over for something small, like a 50mm lens!
I hope this review gives you guys a better idea of what the Versabag (and Crumpler 7MDH) can hold. If you don't take some of the stuff that I do (like the extra AA batteries and Cokin filter set), then you could easily get a 70-200 f/4L in there as well. And let's not forget that this bag only cost $29.99!
