A report by Tim Stevens

QUOTED IMAGE
Red dot sight for hotshoes makes shooting tangos a viewfinder-free experience
If you've been playing Modern Warfare 2 so much that you've studied Arabic just to learn what the OpFor team is saying, yet you're more interested in photographing birds than capturing flags, this is the hotshoe accessory for you. Thanks to Brando it's easy to make your camera a little more lethal looking with the Tactical Four Reticle Sight, an adapter that screws into a camera's hotshoe and then enables the addition of an included sight, which has four separate crosshairs, two colors, and three laser strengths. Yes, we know people have been doing this for years on their own, but this is the cheapest ($45) and easiest way we've seen to get such a thing secured on your SLR. Oh, and "Tango sakat?" It means "tango down," duh.

Does this seem like anything you'd want to try? haha

So you can shoot without looking through the viewfinder

BTW You are not a noob because you don't know what it is, I doubt 99% of people here have seen something like this. It's more of a joke ;)

Some people with supertelephotos would use these for easier subject acquisition. (Imagine trying to find your subject when you have over 1000mm mounted to your camera)

But does it have like an electrical connection with the camera or something?

is it sad that i have everything i need in my garage to make that?

i have a Nstar reflex sight that i broke the weaver rail on the barrel end that would work perfectly, and some hot shoe mounts i could easily epoxy a weaver rail onto.... i'm totally making this.

it wouldn't need one, it has adjustment screws to sight it in, you would just need to line up your dot with the center focal point on the camera (which would be just like sighting in a rifle scope. once its spot on, you know the camera is focusing on the dot without looking through the viewfinder

No, infact I would use it as a selling point. Geek-Chic. Plus you live in a place with loads of flippin snow and Eisbären which makes you almost cool by default.

I want one! I can't follow anything with my zoom I get dizzy and lose it and I only have a bridge camera (SX1). Now that is sad. Would this thing help?
