Is there a reason why I'm seeing people say they got this combo for $240 on B + H when I look on both there and Amazon my price is much closer to $300?

Where are you seeing people saying that they got it for $240? I tried looking around, but I also saw the combo going for $300.

That post is well over a year old. Chances are that B&H was running a promotion.

Wow, they have certainly gone up in price. I bought mine in January and it was $286, with an Adorama carrying case included, without the case it was less than that.

Your post will probably finally motivate me to be less lazy about selling it.

Aggravating to say the least

If you are looking to save a bit of money, take a look at the 190 series legs.

Be thankful you're in the US! That combo is $500-odd here.

It seems like everything has gotten a fairly significant price hike in the photography world these days. I got that combo from B&H for around $240, but it's been a while...

The 190 series center shaft is not rigid enough to support a 70-200 f/2.8L IS properly. I know, I own the two, I've tried. The legs alone (center section lowered) are fine however.

055 legs are much longer reducing need for the center section in the first place, and the larger diameter is sturdy enough to hold the 70-200 without wiggle.
