I'm upgrading from my G3 and I'm looking at getting a 350D and I'm stuck on which lens to get.

I'm on a budget of $1100. I plan on buying just the body from Buydig.com and a 50mm 1.8

350D body= $ 750.
50mm 1.8= $ 79.

That leaves me $200-300 to spend.

IS isn't real important to me as I'm not afraid to use a tripod and I like to set my camera on objects for effect when taking some pictures.

I don't know if I want to buy something like this "Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC and 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC Two Lens Kit for Canon Digital SLR Cameras" for $250 or spend that on one lens. But I don't know if I would rather get a short or long lens to start with.

Any help is appreciated guy:D

To me, I'd say the money up a little bit since you are getting the 50mm f/1.8.

The Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 and Tamron are between 300-450 range. That's why. Good versatile walk around lens for most situations.
