So I got to shoot an event today with two camera's (I normally only have one). And it got me wondering what would be a good way to organize and store 2 or more camera's files efficiently utilizing lightroom.

Any tips on dealing with multiple camera's file names in efficient manner? Cause I don't want to be wondering if IMG_xxxx is camera A or camera B (without looking in the exif)

sync the date/time on the two camera
use something like dim to import and rename images based on date/time stamp

I regularly shoot with more than one body. The first thing that I do is set a user defined naming in the body (I am using 1 series and not sure if this is available in all). When I get back from a shoot I copy all of the files to one folder and then using a third party application I sort them by shooting time and then rename them using my convention. This is nnnnnn_shoot info_original file name. The nnnnn is a sequential numeric value so that when it come time to delivery to the customer they will only see this. I use Breezebrowser for renaming and it will always remember the last number used so I never worry about doubling up a number. A resulting filename may look like 281834_smithWedding_3ds7938. I like having the original camera generated file name in the final naming in case I need to start over for some reason. I have another utility that will simply chop off as many characters as I want and then I am left with the original.

What is the right workflow. The one that works for you. There is nothing wrong in soliciting opinions from others but that is not to say that it is the right one for you. It is fast and efficient and in the end this works for me and that is all that matters.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I have a 20D and a 5DM2. Since I got the 5D, I've been importing my photos into lightroom with a semi custom name, either EOS20D_{img_XXXX} or EOS5DM2_{img_XXXX}. Nothing spectacular there, but it works for me. That obviously wouldn't do me any good if I had 2 identical bodies...

I name my files when I import with a Date_shoot-desc_camera-name_sequence# name. They go into one folder but can be sorted either alphabetically (by camera) or by creation time.
