This is a line of kiddies paint pots, leftovers from a paint project of my daughter's. They were due to be thrown out but I gave them a new life.
I liked how the yellow pot's lid was still down-it appealed to me somehow!

Taken with the 50mm lens on the 10D- I've found that the 50mm really comes into its own in such still life scenarios!

Thank you. That 50mm is a pearler of a lens it really is!

Very cool and so simple. Nicely done. I too find my 50mm to be best used in these kinds of situations. Mine is almost 20 years old now, but still works fine and for things like this, is completely perfect.

Yea at first I tried the 19-35 but even at 35mm (about 50mm equivalent) I was too far away with too much background included. Just cant get very close with that 19-35 which is a shame!

Idk if it's just me but I feel like the focus is on the red more so than the yellow, otherwise, I love it.

I also favor the colors Surprised how shallow the DOF is at F5 though.

Good working on keep it simple!

Thanks for the comments guys! I really wanted that background ( a bed sheet) to be white but the light was lousy on the day so I chose an exposure that was slightly overexposed. I suppose maybe if i'd shot in RAW…
