I know opinions on computer setups are a dime a dozen but does anybody care to give me an opinion on this laptop for minor editing work? Thanks!

There are a few things that I don't like about it, but the biggest is the screen's resolution (1366 x 768 ). It's also kinda heavy for being mostly plastic. My MBP is like 90% metal and it weighs .1lb less. I guess for the price you cannot be too picky though.

Yeah, the screen is the weak point. Would be OK for doing quick edits and with an i5 processor it should be good enough to use back at base with an external hard drive and monitor.

If' you're willing to buy an Acer for $600.....then you might as well pay $50 more and get a 17-inch Gateway (external link)! Unless you really need something more compact! :D

Acer actually bought Gateway out a little while ago. For the price the build is not bad at all. I have heard good and bad about Acer's, mostly bad. So be sure to research the reviews on it before buying.

This thing is a powerhouse... outstanding graphics, 7200 RPM HDD, and RAM like crazy.

Nice laptop. In fact that was one of the ones I was considering when I bought mine a few months ago, but went with this one instead.

That one is nice as well... but I do a lot of CAD work and blueprint on my lappy... so.. the 17" screen was the selling point... I did look at the i5 model as well... and it'd be hard to go wrong with either one..
