Tried to focus on the feet this week (getting them in the frame). Here are a few from Saturday's game. Exif on flickr page.

Used the Sigma 70-200 2.8 and my 100-300 f4 this weekend. Upped the iso for faster shutter speeds as well.

Let me know what you think.

Last two have no feet. But I think they are decent shots of the batter. I am finding that most parents want the face in focus and the bat and ball, or the player throwing the ball to have it in their hand in the photo.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the feedback. I am really trying to put into play all the advice here on the forum. It really pays off.

Raising the iso made a huge difference in the SS I was able to get. And setting the exposure was just as easy after raising the iso to get a fast SS.

#1 is completely nailed in terms of focus and exposure. You didn't have to do much to it. Be careful not to oversharpen the shots as it creates another bad kind of noise!

The action is good. Saturation on the shots beautiful. Maybe look for some different angles and shots. Keep 'em coming--you're doing great work!

I will work on cutting back on the sharpening. I'll take it down a little more. I think posting on flickr is doing something to the images.

I am using LR 2.7 and onone sw to process my images. I am using imagenomic NR after I am done with LR. I found that shooting with the higher iso even in bright sunlight, there is definitely noise in the images.

The 20d is old but she still does a great job. That is why I am saving up for a new body. a 7d that can really handle some noise. unfortunately 1d is priced out of my range.

Nice shots! I shot a little league game last weekend and I know just how tough it is to get the action when and where you want it in the frame. I found that with little league you never know where the action is going to be as they tend to throw the ball around a bit. How many total shots did you take during the game? I think you would have to shoot a bunch to get the quality shots you have here.

I shot about 150-200 tops. Cull anything that is not good. But I have learned to take my time and not just fire away. Once I get a couple of shots of each player batting, I work on getting shots from the field.

I have field access so that allows me to get right where I want to be, 1st base line, 3rd base line. I make sure to stay away from the "game" as much as possible. And I never ever cheer for either team.

I normally end up keeping half of what I shoot due OOF shots or missing the shot I was going for or getting the framing worng.

I compose what I want to shoot and I have gotten much better anticipating where the play will go. And I have learned to listen to the coaches as they are tracking what each hitter has done in previous at bats and how they position they players for a particular batter. this allows me to anticipate where the play may be going giving me an opportunity to get a play in the field.

I am by no means an expert, but this is what works for me.

Once you step up to the 7d your ratio of keepers will go way up.

Yeah, problem is, with three boys playing sports. There is always a registration, new cleats, new bat, wrestling shoes. And dont even get me started on the wife!

So it is a matter of saving pennies and everything else to get to the 7d and a grip.
