Was out taking photos tonight with my t2i and Tamron 60mm F2.0 Maco. All of a sudden, it just stopped working. Was able to turn the camera on, but it was like the lens was making no connection to the camera. Aperture was at 00 and I was unable to change it. Basically, just like if you turn your camera on with no lens. Tried rubbing the contacts, removing the battery, remounting the lens several times with no change.

I have a shoot tomorrow and Really need this lens working but I'm afraid it may need to be sent for repair.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the cause of this or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

I can only suggest what you've already tried (contacts, battery, etc). Unless you can get your hands on another body to try it on. Do other lenses still work on the camera? Have to checked the contacts on the camera side to make sure they're not damaged?

Try cleaning the camera and lens contacts with a new pencil eraser. Don't use alcohol, cleaning fluid, etc.

Ya, tried it on 2 bodies, no joy. Cleaned contacts with Eraser and still no go..... anyone else? Wonder what would cause a lens to do that? Aperture jammed?

I thought a jammed aperture normally gives an ERR. Probably electronics related, like a loose wire or an IC has died or something. I don't think you can try much more than cleaning contacts and trying on another body. Sorry to hear. Hopefully the short end of your 70-300 gets you by tomorrow, if you don't need the macro or large-aperture ability.

Yes, the 70-300mm will be put to the test again.

Good thing Tamron has such good warranty service and terms. Sadly won't help you for your upcoming shoots.

70/f4 is pretty good for portrait shoots. I think you will do fine.
