Just received my camdapter and hand strap for my gripped 40D and have a few questions....

What is the actual purpose of the camdapter itself? Other than the ability to detach the strap from the bottom of the grip (by simply removing the allen screw and removing the camdapter), I see no need for it because the grip already has a post to loop the strap through. When I purchased the two items, I never bothered to check the bottom of my grip first for a loop.

If it is merely for simplified detachment purposes, how beneficial can that really be if the loop on the top of the body does not have a similar simple way to detach? You would have to unthread the strap to get it off completely.

I bought the camdapter with the Manfrotto quick-release. Purpose was so that I could have the tripod quick-release plate on there full-time along with the handstrap, allowing me to use the tripod without having to take the handstrap off and screw on the normal Manfrotto quick-release plate.

If your grip has the loop for the strap, and you can already have the normal tripod plate on, then there really wasn't a need for you to buy the camdapter - just the handstrap I guess.

The Camdapter's more intended for people who don't use the battery grip but want to use the Canon handstrap.
