Looking for corrective critisism on this. I am experimenting with lighing and DOF. I used my 40D with a 580 EX II mounted on the camera with a 430 EX as a slave mounted on a stand and pointed into a 32" umbrella, 50mm 1.4 USM at f 1.4 and 1/25 with Av priority. No post-processing on this. I took a about 60 shots in the series with different angles of the camera and the umbrella, and I tend to like this one. I am very interested in feedback. My fist post here.

I like the shot. May I ask you why you chose to focus on the small dial?

The concept is nice and I like that the image is a bit dark/moody. The one thing I like less is the sort of flare of light in the top left corner.

Thanks. I was just kind of messing around one day and took a few pix of my guitar to experiment with depth of field. I used several focus point of different knobs, the bridge, and the strings and kind of liked the detail of the numbers and the volume knob. I tried a lot of differnet lighting angles with single and multipe flashes and also using an umbrella. I'm not sure what the light flare in the corner is from - maybe one of the other shots doesn't have it. I'll have to check.

Thanks for your comments!
Jim
