Went out for a little wander after tea last night around a small nature area near where we live as we'd spotted a grey heron there the night before and my son wanted to see if I could get a picture.

I decided to give him an old film body and 75-300 to bring along to see he had any success. No sign of the heron but got this nice shot of Tom in action:

Love It! Good camera holding technique!

If he shows signs of serious interest, get him to hold his head up higher and avoid "peeking" through the VF.

Cheers Jay, first time I've let him loose on any form of SLR so tried to instruct him on correct camera holding!

If/when I get my hands on a further digital body, I'll let him have my 450D to play with, as it would be nice for him to get some feedback on what all the settings do, but for the moment it's nice to see him taking an interest.
