It's a pretty complex process of capturing many hours of photons (to improve signal to noise ratio), then subtracting/calibratin​g the images with darks, flats and flat-darks (more exposures at an evenly lit surface and with the lens cap on, then finally stacking the calibrated lights together (in this case, 93 images) before exporting to Photoshop for a final colour balance, curves and levels tweak.

How's that?
