I took delivery of my Canon EF 135mm f/2 on Monday.. This morning I had a good chance to put it through its paces.. Having a reputation of being tack sharp at maximum aperture, I shot everything on f/2 just to see how good this lens really is..

I mainly shoot street candids in low light/high ISO so this lens was my obvious choice.. At f/2 the 135mm f/2 is brilliantly sharp.. It focuses very quickly and accurately.. To add, it didn't need AF Micro adjustment on my 50D which is a plus..

Colour fidelity is accurate, if a bit on the warm side and the bokeh absolutely beautiful..

This is one hell of a lens!!

Both images shot at f/2 and at 800 ISO.. EXIF is intact..

I just got mine Tuesday and LOVE this lens. I had to do some MA on mine (+9) but it is razor sharp wide open and a pleasure to use. The macro ability is excellent with this lens, and using a 1.4x TC on it does very little to IQ.

I am *very* happy with this lens.

Congrats! It's my 2nd favourite lens and it's really a very good lens for street shots!

do you find it too long on a cropper?

is that an electric fan behind the girl in the second photo? darn bokeh is so nice it looks like some kind of neat design.

I think it will be. I rented this on a 5d and I find it long, but if you can get past that this lens is outstanding.

I find mine to be rather jumpy. When it hits it's amazing but it can easily focus on nothing without warning or reason.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Agree. I tried this on an Xsi, and it was really akward, very limited in terms of use. You're looking at a 216 mm in focal length. Unless that's your thing, id probably go with a much more shorter FL.

You're the type of photographer for whom this lens was made Jurgen!

Many happy frames to you both! :D
