This is my first pic post on this forum (or anywhere for that matter) It was shot with D30 and 75-300 IS. Comments are welcom but I think the colors shifted when I saved it in a smaller file size for posting.

Nice earthy tones, I like it:D

Wow.. Nice and close.. Good one.. I think the American Kestrel is THE most attractive of all the raptors with its markings and striking colors...

They're common where I live in the country. I see them a lot but I can only get them as specks on fence posts and power wires.. (Even with my 400mm lens).. In two years, I've never managed a good shot. Was this a tame one ?

Thanks for the kind words.

I live in Florida and get to see great birds almost every day. However, I had never seen one of these until I was in Big Bear California. The shot was taken at a wildlife rehab center. Something aparently happened to its wing and they were nursing him back to health. Thats how I got so close but it was still effective 480mm on my D30.
