Ebay F160 ring flash adapter?

Anyone tried this adapter?Saw several on Ebay at around $35.They are used with current flashes like the 580EX,430EX,etc.

note in the customer's review: Be warned that the light loss is about 5 f stops (as compared with only a flash)

Wow...........5 stops seems like way to much to consider this.But for macro,it may still be OK.
