I guess the alternative is rhinoplasty.

must be "perfect" when you need to shoot from the ground level

i have a big nose :( i hate when i sweat/grease gets on the lcd all the time.... :lol:

I'd rather have the viewfinder off to the side, the way it is when you flip to portrait.

To have your nose removed? Is there a human nose that doesn't touch the LCD when the viewfinder is placed to the eye?

Actually it might keep your wrist straighter (and hence more comfortable) if you think about it.

I'm having trouble visualizing where your palm would rest. Seems almost like holding a pistol grip backwards.

I wrote rhinoplasty, not rhinectomy. But hmmm...that could work even better. Hey, if it helps get the shot...

The main point with that camera isn't the sloping rear, but the grip, which is at a more ergonomic angle.

Ergonomic grip is nice, but as soon as you decide to shoot from ground level, you´re f...ed.
