I just ordered a 5D2, and it should be arriving this upcoming week. I'm pretty stoked :)

I am looking into investing into another battery, and another CF card. At the moment I only have two 8GB CF cards from my 40D. I am thinking of getting a 16GB Sandisk Ultra III card. It will be plenty for my uses.

I noticed for the first time though, that the battery is very expensive -$100 per. battery.

Does anyone know of a place with a great deal on the LP-E6 batteries, and CF cards?

Thanks

I just checked vendors for the LP-E6 and I didn't realize the cost of these things went up. I bought a 2nd battery when I got my 7D grip and I remember only paying $65 for a brand new Canon LP-E6.

If you don't mind non-OEM batteries, Sterlingtek has a pretty good reputation. I've been using them for years and have gotten XTi, G9, G11, 40D, and 5D batteries there without any problems. I just picked up two BP-511's for about $24.

I bought spare BP-511s for my 40D from Sterlingtek. Good product. But Sterlingtek doesn't have an LP-E6 equivalent.

I picked up a second battery from B&H not too long ago for ~$60. Glad I picked up one when I did.

Oops, sorry for posting without double checking. You might want to keep an eye on this thread: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=872532
The person is looking for a 7D battery, but they both use LP-E6's so it might be helpful to you.

I’ve always had a second set of batteries so that makes 4 x LP-E6s. I’ve also recently bought a second charger so I can get a pair up to speed really quickly. My old BP 511 double battery charger only actually charged each in sequence so two parallel chargers are better IMHO.
