Hello to all I was looking for some advice on a new CF card for my Canon 7D I was trying to choose between the 16GB Sandisk extreme pro or the 16GB Lexar professional 300X The Extreme pro is quite expensive but I wouldnt mind paying it if the performance and reliability was better than that of the Lexar.Anybody have advice on which way to go Thank you for any input.

both good makes.. but the only real benefit of such fast cards right now is downloading to the pc if you have an 800 fw reader or express card reader or esata perhaps, otherwise its money wasted imho... the normal sandisk extreme is going to cover anything your camera can throw at it and with a fast reader like express card you will be amazed at download speeds to pc.. unless you plan on getting a 1dmk4 in the near future and even with that I'm not sure if a pro card is going to add anything to the continuos fps of the camera (by clearing the buffer faster) or video recording..

I have extreme 3's and sandisk ducati.

I'm very happy with the screaming deal $$ on Transcend 400x from newegg.

I'm more concerned about transfering photos to my computer. Sandisk firewire reader is a must have for me.

Anything 20 MB/sec or faster will be ample for video. If you shoot raw and often shoot action where you'll use bursts of photos, the faster card will give you a slight edge in filling the buffer (there's actually some writing to the card going on during continuous shooting even before the camera buffer's full) and will unquestionably empty the full buffer faster.

Personally, I've standardized on SanDisk cards. At one time Lexar had a slightly non-standard interface which failed in Canon cameras (it was Lexar's fault; they issued a card firmware update to correct this). That left a sour taste in my mouth.

I use the Sandisk Ultra 8 GB cards in my 5D Mark II and love them. At $33 each from B&H, I find them to be flawless in every way. I have no reason to spend a ton of money on a memory card. I have used the Sandisk Ultra in the 40D for 2.5 years with zero problems ever. In either case, check out the Gepe waterproof CF card cases on B&H. It holds 4 CF cards and floats, 100% waterproof. Comes in red, neon green, and black. Slick case to protect your CF cards in.

I just bought a expresscard CF-reader and I'm looking for some faster and bigger cards to.

I think I'm going with the 32gb, never had a problem with SanDisk.
