Okay... I have recently purchased the 7D and have been having a lot of fun with it... but I've done something that has removed the "Active AF Point" indicator... it no longer turns RED to indicate the point that where focus is... I've gone through just about every menu that I can find and haven't had any luck. The funny thing is that the RED AF Point shows up on the review/playback of the image on the LCD... but it still isn't in the viewfinder. Help! Please...

um, I might be wrong but I am pretty sure it's C.Fn III autofocus/drive 8 > 1:Enable

I was being lazy, just tested.. yes that's the one :) that's what controls the illumination of that lil square.

no joy with c.fn III -8

set it to enable, but still doesn't "light up" the AF Point.... is that only available in a certain AF MODE?

Mine doesn't "light up" either but the focus point I have selected has a black square around it. That is in AV mode. I don't know about the others. And the red square also displays when you review the image on the LCD.

I agree that you are in AI Servo rather than One Shot.

I also agree :) Same functionality with my 7D (who wants constant red blinking in AI Servo :P )

It happens during the day or night? Mine doesn't turn Red during the day, but turns Red at night. Try it in dark area to see if it's on.

The focus area flashes red and the focus point retains a black square. Perhaps you've confused the AF point on review with the viewfinder?

You have your CF III-8 set to auto.
