If you don't already have a macro, the 100mm f2.8 would be a great addition. Lots of interesting critters to shoot in CR I bet. And it would be fine for general-purpose low-light use as well.

I would go with 24-70 since you have 17-85
i think IQ is better on 24-70 than 16-35 but that just my opinion

You don't have to buy you know :)

That said the 24-70 is probably more useful but if you're doing landscape work then go with the 16-35 Mark II.

Have you considered a regular prime lens? There are lots of good faster options for the same price or lower than the 100mm Macro. 2.8 isn't really that fast indoors.

i haven't really thought about the budget yet just finding out what my options are i am not off until December but having said that a lowlight lens would be handy at the moment with the weather we are having in England we don't seem to get long summers like we use to just odd days

2.8 isn't that fast indoors. A very good aperture on a zoom since that's all you can get on a zoom anyway, but if you go with a prime I'd try for at least 1.8 or better.

I have 85 /1.8 and while I love it to death this is a portrait / people lens, not a landscape / travel lens. What about Sigma 30 /1.4, this was very highly suggested to me when I was shopping for a new lens, in the end I went with 85 because it made more sense for portraits, but for travel 30 is the way to go I think.

Fast prime in the focal length that you shoot most. This will be more fun than you can imagine.
